About the Firm

Unlike larger, general practice law firms, Bock Trade Law is a law firm exclusively devoted to the practice of Customs and International Trade Law and Import, Export, and Sanctions Regulatory Compliance.

In addition to preparing clients to engage in trade and helping them reduce associated regulatory risks, duties, taxes, and fees, the firm assists clients in managing and mitigating penalties and other consequences of compliance failures. The firm also regularly intercedes on behalf of clients with the various agencies that regulate the import and export of goods in the United States, including, but not limited to, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and the Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Founded in the greater Boston area in 1990, the firm has developed a practice and client base that extends far beyond its New England roots.  In the years since its founding, the firm has represented hundreds of clients from a broad spectrum of the international trade community, headquartered both in and outside of the United States, and ranging from Fortune 500 multinational corporations to regional small and medium enterprises.

While many of the firm’s clients retain larger law firms and consulting firms to handle other aspects of their businesses, these clients turn to the firm for all issues arising out of their international trade activity. Not only is the firm committed exclusively to this area, but its size and focus allow it to offer clients sophisticated, succinct, and commercially pragmatic counsel at rates that larger firms and consulting practices simply cannot afford.
